9/7/2023 0 Comments Steam download speeds![]() Currently trying to figure out what on my network is causing the Steam Deck-and only the Steam Deck-to have such dismal speeds on it. Update, April 2, 2022: I've had a bit of a breakthrough: my download speeds through Steam drastically improved once I connected to my phone's hotspot, which is on 5G. Is anyone else having these problems, and has anyone else had any luck fixing it? I'd love to find a solution, but even just knowing I'm not the only one would make things a bit better.Įdit: Just thought I'd also say that I've run some downloads through Steam on other clients in my house, and they're all getting normal download speeds, too. I've already turned off wifi power management in the developer settings, and I've also already tried a full reimage of my Deck. If I run a Speedtest, I get pretty good speeds, but if I try to download a game, I get painfully slow speeds no matter whether I use a 2.4 GHz network, a 5 GHz network, or ethernet through a USB hub. Next, from your Detail panel, right-click on SteamService.exe and select Set priority, then High. Right-click on Steam Client entry and select Go to details. First, open Steam and locate the software in your Task Manager. On the right panel, select the download speed from the Limit bandwidth to dropdown menu. Optimize Steam's Software Another little trick to optimize Steam's download speeds also lies within your Task Manager. On the left panel, select the Downloads tab. I'm getting really slow download speeds on my Deck, but only through Steam itself. These are the steps you should follow to limit Steam client download speed.
